The Wizard is a program that allows you to play quizzes against other real people over the internet. If no human players are available to play against, our server will create a computer controlled 'Bot' for you to play against.
This site runs a free quiz demo that you can play to check whether the wizard works for you.
What are the rules?
If you beat all the other players and have a score above 80% you will be given an extra wizard credit.
If you beat all the other players and have a score lower than 80% your credit balance will not change.
If you lose a game, you will lose a single credit.
You can join a game in progress, this will not affect your credits.
If you quit a game in progress, you will lose a credit no matter how well you were doing.
Does the wizard affect my computer?
The wizard applet is not spyware, and cannot access any data on your machine or install anything to your computer, there is no possibility of getting a virus through playing the wizard quiz.
Depending on the speed of your connection it may take a while to load, please be patient as the wizard needs to load a large number of graphics when you first play it.
Why wont it work?
If you see nothing at all while trying to run the wizard, please make sure you have a version of the Java Virtual Machine running on your web browser. You can download this from http://java.sun.com
If you are experiencing connection problems with the Wizard, it may be down to a firewall running on your system. If you are in an office you can ask the IT department to open port 82, which may help.
If we are experiencing problems with our server, we will post a message on the front of this site.
How is wizard rating calculated?
Your Wizard Rating is based on how many games you have won and your average score. The maximum wizard rating is 1000.
